How to Use Canva Bulk Create
The latest Canva feature actually made many people want to get the paid version. Now, Canva already has a background remover option, premium stock images that you can use for free, making creating designs easy. But Canva bulk create option can make design creation even faster.
One of the main reasons people like Canva bulk create is to quickly create multiple social media posts. I prefer to post either reels or carousels on Instagram because single photos just don’t work as well.
You can see in this video the best way to create carousels on Canva by using the latest Canva Bulk Creation app:
What is Bulk Create in Canva?
Canva Bulk Create is basically an app that you use inside of Canva to create multiple designs all at once. Your designs will be the same style but you can upload all the text automatically.
For example, you can prepare quotes that you use monthly, and add them to an Excel or Google Sheets file. Use the Bulk Create tool and update all of your designs text automatically. That means that in minutes you will have 30 or more quote posts ready.
What Does Canva Bulk Create Tool Do?
Did you find an error message that says: “Your designs didn’t get built. Please try again.”? One reason you could face this problem is if you uploaded the PDF file to Canva and then tried adding bulk text.
If that’s the case, you can convert your PDF file to JPG with this free online PDF converter. After that, add your JPG files to Canva. Set the placeholders and import csv. You can either bulk pages one by one or save the pages as JPG and add placeholders.
How Do You Bulk Create Quotes in Canva?
Let me start with saying that you can easily get quotes from books by using ChatGPT. Use a simple prompt, for example: “10 quotes from book Thinking, Fast and Slow”:

Once you have the quotes ready, upload them to the Google Sheets or Excel file. You can also upload them directly to Canva Bulk Creation tool.

The first line should be titled the name of your content, e.g. “quote”, “author”. You will not see these cells in Canva. Also, ideally, you want to delete all of the empty cells. This helps to avoid problems once the file is uploaded.
Now all you need to do is to go to download the file as CSV and go to Canva:
> Find Bulk Creation tool on the left side:

Now you can either enter data manually or upload the CSV file. In this case, we’ll upload the CSV file. That’s it. Now, let’s actually bulk create your quotes on Canva:
> Format your text, the longer the quote, the smaller the text you will want to be,
> Select the text you want to be the quote. Right click and choose “Connect data”, select “Quote,
> Repeat the process for the author.

That’s it! All of your quotes will be created automatically. Also, you can have different designs as well. Instead of having one design, just create multiple ones.
Bulk Create Error Message
Once you have the quotes ready, upload them to the Google Sheets or Excel file. You can also upload them directly to Canva Bulk Creation tool.

Still doesn’t work? Try these tips:
Personally, it was enough for me to just clean my cookies and cache on Chrome. However, even then for some people the bulk creation doesn’t work. Here’s what you can do in that case:
Canva itself says they are currently working on it. So, hopefully, soon we will not receive error messages when trying to use the bulk creation tool. But for me right now, InDesign is more reliable. There are still more things I can do and larger documents I can create.
Why Can't I Use Bulk Create on Canva?
Unfortunately, right now this feature is only available to the Canva PRO users. But feel free to get a free Canva trial first. Honestly, I’d highly recommend doing that first just to make sure that the Bulk Creation feature works smoothly for you.
There has been times when I couldn’t use the feature myself. I can’t explain to you why that happened because I seriously did the same things as I usually do. However, just by deleting the cache from my browser I’ve been able to solve this problem.
That being said, I’ve seen people in forums that said that they would just get an error message. I can’t comment on their individual case but just to be sure, I’d try Canva free trial first.
Also, when you create a new template, make sure to choose one of the social media templates. Some other templates don’t show the bulk creation tool icon. It’s also possible that it just didn’t show up for me.
All in all, it’s still a fairly new feature so I am sure it may not work as smoothly as we’d like. That being said, it’s been incredibly benefitial to me and has saved me lots of time when creating social media posts or digital planners.
Can I Create Digital Planner with Bulk Create Feature?
I’ve actually created a video that shows you how to make digital planner creation process faster with the help of bulk creation tool:
Not only that but in this video I even give away the digital planner for free!
